Three brothers, all valorous and noble knights of Bretonnia, set out on an epic quest to slay a band of vicious Blood Dragon vampires.
Writer’s Commentary
After working on stories for Warhammer 40,000 for a while I wanted to get back to writing some Warhammer ones. When it came to choosing what to write about, I knew I wanted to write something about vampires, because, let’s face it, who doesn’t like vampires? I wanted to do a creepy story and also one that had some knights. Combining the two seemed logical and as the character of Luc Massone began to emerge, the more the ending began to suggest itself. Originally, I’d planned the ending to be a pretty grim one with everyone dying, but as the story continued I began to form a more interesting idea with a darker twist to it. This is a story I really like, and I’ve read it aloud to people around a campfire in the dark and had suitably frightened reactions. In fact, I’ve read it a few times now and, like the best tales, it grows in the telling.
